Almost a year ago I was stuck in an airport with my husband on the way to visit his parents. To pass the time the delay had caused I went into the bookstore and bought a copy of a Martha Stewart Wedding magazine. When I came out of the store my husband looked at me blankly.
“Um, we are already married,” he stated. The question that he posed was obviously ‘why does a married girl buy a bridal magazine?’
“Yes,” I said, “but look at the pretty flowers they made! It tells how to make them in here!” He’s used to my reasoning so he shrugged his shoulders and began to read his own magazine again.
The point.
Ever since I looked at that magazine I have been eager to create faux flowers out of fabric, paper, and other items. And yet, not eager enough to actually complete the task. I have seen so many different ideas and tutorials online that I thought I would try some out and create a list of my favorites.
I love real flowers. That’s what I had in my wedding. There are perks to fake flowers. They can be created far in advance so you can see the finished product before the big day arrives. They can also be used a bridal shower decorations, wedding favor decorations, etc. Crafting is also a good way to get rid of some of that nervous energy planning a wedding can create. Stay tuned for some faux flower inspiration.
After the Aisle Tip: Faux flowers can be used in non-wedding decorations too – a girly birthday party, a baby shower, even just to replace bows on a pretty package.
